Nothing you type here is sent to us unless you press one of the buttons below. It is kept on this device so it is here when you come back.

Run a weekly deal? Put it on a free page people can open.

Listing is free. Nothing goes on the page until you have checked it and published it.

We put weekly deals on a page, not whole menus: a special with its price and the days it runs. If you run one, you can send it to us, and where we can check the place is yours we set it up for you to check and publish.

To make sure it is really your place, we set it up with the email address your place shows publicly, on its website, Google or Facebook. If it shows no email, we phone the number it lists and ask you to confirm by email. A phone call alone is not enough. So we can only set up a page when we can check the place is yours from something it already shows publicly. If your place has nothing online yet, we cannot set one up from here, and the poster maker stays free to use. If you message us on WhatsApp, message from the number your place shows publicly.

Add your place name and an item to send them to us.

WhatsApp opens with your message ready, and the form opens filled in. Nothing is sent until you press send. See an example page

You get a picture (PNG) and a printable A4 or A5 picture, not a Word file. Free, no account, and nothing is uploaded: the picture is made on your device.

What goes on a tuck shop price list

1One job per list
A list for a tuck shop is not the same as a list for plates from your kitchen. Make one list for each job and keep it to one page.
2Group the items
Put things of a kind under a short section heading, such as Snacks, Drinks and Sweets, or Plates, Sides and Drinks. People find an item faster under the heading they expect.
3Item in one box, price in the next
Type the item in the first box and its price in the second. The picture lines every price up on the right for you.
4Two sizes on one line
Tick "This section has two prices" and name the two columns once, for example Small and Large. Keep the same order everywhere.
5Say what the price is for
Write "each", "per scoop" or "with pap and chakalaka" in the item name, so nobody argues at the counter.
6Sizes belong in the name
Put 440ml, 1 litre or a tray of 6 in the item name. The picture draws the digits in a clear face, so 500ml reads as 500ml.
7Add a date and where you are
Use the Heading box for "Prices from" and the date, and the "Address, hours or a note" box for where you are. Then an old picture cannot be mistaken for the new one.
8Paste the list you already have
A price list kept in your notes, or sent to you in a chat, goes in through Paste a list. Each line is an item with its price at the end. Two prices on a line, such as "chips small 6 large 12", are read as two prices with their labels, and you see how every line was read before anything is added.
9A tuck shop, a spaza or a home kitchen
A tuck shop list is mostly single items with small prices. A home kitchen list is plates, sides and drinks. The form is the same for both: sections, items and prices, with a second price where you sell two sizes.
10When the list is long
A Story holds up to thirty items. With more than that, make two lists, for example Food and Everyday items, and save a picture of each. The form keeps one list at a time, so save the first picture before you start the second.

Tuck shop price list design ideas

Six ways one tuck shop list can look. Tap a picture to start from it, then type your own items over the example.

Cream card, the Sunday lunch look, Story size
Sunday lunch is a cream card with a green frame and dotted lines from each item to its price. It is the calm, tidy look for a list with many short items.
Kasi look in blue, Story size
Kasi is flat colour with tilted white section tabs. It is the loudest of the plain looks, and a blue one keeps the prices white and easy to read.
Chalkboard, A5 to print
A chalkboard list on A5 is the size for a counter or a shelf edge. Chalk lettering reads like a hand-written board without the hand-writing.
Cream card, the Sunday lunch look in navy, square, the first eight items
A square holds up to sixteen items. Here only the first eight are drawn, so the picture is not crowded.
Shisa nyama look in plum, A4 to print
The Shisa nyama look has a checker edge and yellow labels. On A4 in plum it is a loud poster for a wall, and the prices still line up on the right.
Green chalkboard, Story size
Green chalkboard for Status. Every look has its own set of colours, and the colour box under the looks swaps them in one tap.

A tuck shop list, step by step

The first picture has five sections: Snacks, Hot chips with a second price for Large, Sweets, Drinks and Everyday. Start with the section name, then add items one after another. If you sell most things by the single item, the "each" goes in the name. A list typed or pasted from WhatsApp can go in through Paste a list: one item to a line, with the price at the end.

Tips

  1. One price per line, in the price box. Do not type prices into the item name.
  2. Keep the headings few. Three to five is plenty.
  3. Choose A4 or A5 to print, and check it from the distance a customer stands at the counter.
  4. If prices move often, post the picture on Status and print only the lines that stay put.
  5. Leave out anything that is out of stock, and make a new picture when stock changes.

Questions

Is the price list maker free?
Yes. Making a price list picture costs nothing and needs no account.
Is my price list uploaded anywhere?
No. The price list, any photo and your logo stay on your device, and the picture is made there. We receive something only if you press one of the send buttons at the bottom of the form.
Can I change a price on my price list next week?
Yes. Open this page, change the line and save a new picture. What you typed stays in this browser on this device until you clear your browser data or use another browser.
Can I print my price list?
Yes. Choose A4 to print or A5 to print next to the picture and press Download. You get a picture (PNG), not a Word or PDF file.
Can I get a Word or Excel file?
No. You get a picture (PNG), made to be posted or printed, not edited later in Word.
How many items fit?
Up to 30 in a Story, on A4 or A5, and 16 in a square, so the type stays easy to read.
Can I put my tuck shop list on WhatsApp Status?
Yes. Choose Story, save the picture and post it as a Status. When a price changes, change it in the form, save a new picture and post that one.
Can I use it for a spaza shop or a home kitchen?
Yes. The form asks for a place name, items and prices, so a spaza, a tuck shop at a school gate, a home kitchen or a market stall can all use it.
