Also free: your specials on Weekly Eats.

What you type stays on your phone. We only see it if you press "Send these to us on WhatsApp" or "Send them by email form" further down. It is kept on this phone, so it is here when you come back.

How it works

  1. Type your bakery and your cakes.

Example. A phone showing the step "What do you sell?" for Garden Lane Cakes: a line and its price being typed, and the menu beside them with the lines typed so far.
  2. Pick how it looks.

Example. A phone showing the step "Pick how it looks": the menu for Garden Lane Cakes on the left and the same words in other looks on the right, one of them chosen.
  3. Change the colours, if you like.

Example. A phone showing the same step with "More colours" open and another colour chosen: the menu for Garden Lane Cakes is in that colour.
  4. Share it on WhatsApp, or print it.

Example. The finished menu for Garden Lane Cakes filling a phone screen, and the same picture printed on a page stuck to a wall.

The pictures show examples with made-up places and prices.

Run a weekly deal? Put it on a free page people can open.

A Weekly Eats page shows your specials by day, in your own words, with the price where there is one.

Listing is free. Nothing goes on the page until you have checked it and published it.

How listing works

Or type your place name and an item above. Then you can send them to us from here.

How do we check it is your place?

To make sure it is really your place, we set it up with the email address your place shows publicly, on its website, Google or Facebook. If it shows no email, we phone the number it lists and ask you to confirm by email. A phone call alone is not enough. So we can only set up a page when we can check the place is yours from something it already shows publicly. If your place has nothing online yet, we cannot set one up from here, and the poster maker stays free to use. If you message us on WhatsApp, message from the number your place shows publicly.

You get a picture to post, and a bigger one to print on a normal printer page (A4) or half a page (A5), not a Word file. Free, no account, and nothing is uploaded: the picture is made on your device.

What goes on a cake price list

1Whole cakes in two sizes
Put the whole cakes in a section of their own, with a price for each size on the same line. Under All options, tick "Two prices on each line, like Small and Large", then type the size names in the boxes First price is and Second price is.
2Size names a buyer understands
Keep the size names short, like Small and Large, and write what the cake serves in the name of the cake when it helps: "Victoria sponge, serves 8".
3Cupcakes and slices by the piece
A cupcake or a slice is sold on its own, so it has one price and no second column. Give it a section with its own heading, so a buyer after one piece does not scan past the whole cakes.
4Flavours named in the line
Say the flavour in the name, like "Chocolate fudge" or "Lemon and poppy seed", so a buyer knows what they are choosing before they ask.
5Extras that go with an order
Candles, a topper with a name and a box of cupcakes go in an extras section at the foot. Each one is a line with its own price.
6An order is not a shelf item
A cake made to order is made for a day the buyer chooses. Say in the line at the foot how far ahead an order needs, such as "Order two days ahead". The picture does not take the order, so the buyer phones or messages you.
7Where the list goes
Print the printer page (A4) for the counter and the half page (A5) for the table where orders are taken. Post the tall picture on WhatsApp Status when a price changes or a new flavour comes in.

Cake price list design ideas

Six ways one cake price list can look: a cream card with a red lattice, a dark sea slate with orange tabs, a chalkboard in coloured chalk, royal blue with yellow tabs, kraft paper and dark basil green with a gingham border. Tap a picture to start from it.

A cake price list, step by step

The list has four sections: cakes by size with two prices, Small and Large, then cupcakes, cake slices and extras. Type each cake with both prices, and each cupcake or slice with one. The line at the foot says to order two days ahead.

Tips

  1. Put the size names in the section, so every cake in it has the same two sizes.
  2. Say the flavour in the name: chocolate, lemon, carrot.
  3. Leave out a flavour you have not baked this week, so the picture is true.
  4. Give the cupcakes a section of their own, with one price each.
  5. Use the line at the foot for how many days ahead an order needs.

Tall like a phone screen. Best for WhatsApp Status and for Stories.
Square, for a post
Square. Best for a post on Facebook or Instagram.
Printer page (A4)
A4 is the size of a normal printer page. Print it at home or at a print shop. A home printer leaves a thin white edge.
Half page (A5)

Questions

Can I put a whole cake and a slice on the same line?
No. A line holds a name and one price, or two prices when its section has two. Put the slice in the cake slices section with its own price.
Can I add a photo of a cake to the list?
Yes, if you want one. The box for the photo is under All options, and you can leave it out.
Can I change the prices each month?
Yes. Open this page, change the price in the line and save a new picture for the month.
What size does a printed cake list come out at?
A4 is a full printer page. A5 is half of one, which suits a table where orders are taken. Print it is on the Get your picture step.
